Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 23rd, 2026
At Cocollabs, we take your privacy seriously. Please read this Privacy Policy to learn how we treat your personal data. By using or accessing our Services in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined below, and you hereby consent that we will collect, use, and disclose your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Your use of Cocollabs' Services is at all times subject to our Terms of Use, which incorporates this Privacy Policy. As we continually work to improve our Services, we may need to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will alert you to material changes by placing a notice on the Cocollabs website and/or by sending you an email. If you use the Services after any changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted, that means you agree to all of the changes.
What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy covers how we treat Personal Data that we gather when you access or use our Services. "Personal Data" means any information that identifies or relates to a particular individual, including information referred to as "personally identifiable information" under applicable data privacy laws. This Privacy Policy does not cover the practices of companies we don't own or control or people we don't manage.
Cocollabs is an engineering intelligence platform — not a performance management or employee surveillance tool. We do not rank individual engineers, assign scores, or expose individual-level data to managers by default.
Personal Data We Collect
Here are the categories of Personal Data that we collect:
Profile & Contact Data
Full name, email address, and a unique account identifier — collected when you create an account via our authentication provider, Clerk.
GitHub Identity & Repository Data
When you connect GitHub, we receive data via the GitHub App installation you authorize. This includes your GitHub username, the names and identifiers of authorized repositories, pull request metadata (titles, authors, timestamps, review activity, and file-level changes), and installation metadata. We access only the repositories you explicitly authorize during setup.
Device & Usage Data
IP address, browser type, device type, and web page interactions. We use this data to operate the Services securely and understand how the product is being used in aggregate.
Communications
Any emails, messages, or other communications you send us when requesting support or contacting us directly.
How We Use Your Data
We use your Personal Data to:
- Create and manage your account
- Connect to GitHub and process your authorized repository data
- Automatically classify engineering work (features, bug fixes, maintenance) from code changes — not from labels, PR titles, or commit messages
- Calculate cycle time, review wait time, and investment distribution across work types to surface team-level engineering intelligence
- Detect review bottlenecks and surfacing process health signals for your team
- Improve, test, and develop the Services
- Respond to your support requests and communicate important account information
- Protect the security and integrity of the Services
How We Disclose Your Data
We do not sell your Personal Data. We may share it only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We share data with third-party providers who help us operate the Services:
- Clerk — handles user authentication and session management, receiving your name, email, and login credentials.
- GitHub — the source of all repository and pull request data via the GitHub App integration.
- Google (Gemini API) — receives code diff content for automated work classification. Data is processed under Google's API data processing terms and is not used to train Google's models.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cocollabs, its users, or the public.
Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and your organization's data is logically isolated from other organizations on the platform.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you become aware of a security concern, please contact us immediately at security@cocollabs.dev.
Data Retention
We retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Repository and pull request data is retained according to your plan tier, ranging from 30 to 180 days. When you disconnect a repository or uninstall the GitHub App, we stop receiving new data for that installation.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at mario@cocollabs.dev.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your Personal Data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
- Disconnection — revoke Cocollabs' access to your GitHub data at any time by uninstalling the GitHub App from your GitHub settings
- Portability — request an export of your data in a portable format
- Opt-out — opt out of non-essential communications at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at mario@cocollabs.dev. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
